Fatal R103 crash near Heidelberg leaves 1 dead and another fighting for life
A tragic rollover accident on the R103 near Heidelberg on May 24 claimed the life of one occupant and left another critically injured after both were ejected from the vehicle.
A fatal rollover accident on the R103 near Heidelberg claimed one life and left another person critically injured on May 24.
Emergency services were dispatched shortly before 14:00 following reports of a serious motor vehicle accident involving a light vehicle that had allegedly lost control and overturned.
Responding to the scene were Heidelberg Volunteer Medics and First Responders, alongside Gauteng Provincial Government Emergency Medical Services and ER24.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found that the vehicle had left the roadway and overturned.
According to information from the scene, the force of the crash ejected both occupants from the vehicle.
One occupant sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene by Gauteng EMS personnel. A second occupant suffered critical injuries.
Emergency responders worked rapidly to stabilise the patient before the individual was transported to the hospital by Gauteng EMS for urgent advanced medical treatment.
The cause of the accident remains unknown at this stage and will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
