A truck driver who allegedly suffered a medical emergency while driving on the R549 Vaal Dam Road on June 3 managed to bring his vehicle to a safe stop, preventing what could have been a serious accident.

The incident came to light after a concerned member of the public reported a bloodied man lying next to the road and a truck obstructing traffic. Members of Rensburg Forum responded to the scene and found that personnel from Gauteng Medical Services Ambulance were already providing medical assistance to the driver.

According to information obtained at the scene, the driver is believed to have suffered a seizure or similar medical episode while behind the wheel.

Despite the emergency, he reportedly maintained control of the truck and brought it to a controlled stop before exiting the vehicle.

Shortly after leaving the truck, the driver allegedly collapsed next to the roadway and sustained injuries.
Emergency medical personnel assessed him at the scene, where he appeared disoriented and confused following the incident.
