The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle, forcing the occupants to stop and request assistance from a towing company.

As towing personnel arrived at the scene, the occupants were standing outside the vehicle when they were allegedly confronted by two armed suspects. During the incident, approximately four shots were reportedly fired.

Fortunately, no injuries were sustained.

Rensburg Forum was alerted to the incident through Safari Towing and immediately activated a joint operational response involving the Ratanda Anti-Crime Unit, AfriForum, STS Tactical and the SecMed24 Tactical Team.

Upon arrival, responders established that the suspects had fled into nearby maize fields adjacent to the N3. AfriForum deployed a drone to assist with aerial surveillance while ground teams launched an extensive search operation.

During the search, information received by responders indicated a possible cellphone location near the R103.

Tactical teams were subsequently deployed along strategic routes, including the R550, N3 and R103, while search teams continued combing the surrounding fields.

One of the BMW occupants managed to escape after the suspects allegedly attempted to force him to accompany them.

Amid the chaos and gunfire, he reportedly broke free and fled towards the R550. Responding teams later located the victim near the R550 and safely reunited him with the other two occupants.

Authorities commended the swift coordination and teamwork displayed throughout the operation, which ensured that all three victims were accounted for and brought to safety.

Despite an extensive search involving aerial support and multiple ground teams, the suspects were not located.
