A Rensburg family escaped unharmed after their home in Coen Labuschagne Street was engulfed by fire on Sunday evening. While the occupants managed to rescue their pets, the house and its contents suffered extensive damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A Rensburg family is counting its losses after their home on Coen Labuschagne Street was destroyed by fire on August 17.

The occupants managed to escape the blaze without injury and rescue their pets.

However, the fire caused extensive damage to the structure and destroyed the home’s contents.

Homeowner Lemont Kriel said the incident was still being investigated.

“We don’t know what caused the fire at this stage, and it is still under investigation. We want to thank everyone who responded and assisted us, especially the emergency personnel and volunteers who came to our aid when we needed them most,” he said.

Members of the Rensburg Forum, Crime Stop Heidelberg, Heidelberg Volunteer Medics and First Responders, and Lesedi Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and assisted.
