Health and Wellness Expo promotes employee wellbeing at Heidelberg Hospital

Employees from the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development and Gauteng Department of Health accessed a range of health screenings and wellness services during an annual expo at Heidelberg Hospital on September 30.

Government employees in the Sedibeng Region were given access to a range of health and wellness services during an annual Health and Wellness Expo held at Heidelberg Hospital on September 30.

The initiative, led by the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development Sedibeng Region, also provided an opportunity to strengthen working relations with the Gauteng Department of Health.

Employees from both departments participated in the programme and accessed various health screenings and professional services aimed at promoting preventative healthcare and general wellbeing.

Services available during the expo included dental screening and treatment, audiology, chiropractic services, physiotherapy, podiatry and optometry, among others.

The event also incorporated indigenous games, allowing employees to participate in recreational activities as part of the wellness programme. Prizes were awarded to participants at the end of the programme.

The expo brought together health and wellness services in one location, making it easier for employees to access information, screenings and support services.

Organisers said the initiative also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between government departments and wellness stakeholders in the Sedibeng Region in promoting a healthier workforce.
