Lieutenant Colonel Louise Droskie has bid farewell to Nigel after three years as station commander at Nigel Police Station, with October 14 marking her last day at the station.

Droskie has been promoted to station commander at Tsakane Police Station, effective immediately.

Captain Neliswa Dwaba will serve as acting station commander in Nigel until the position is permanently filled.

During her three-year tenure, Droskie built strong relationships with the Nigel community, the CPF, local security companies, and other stakeholders through cooperation, communication, and joint efforts to combat crime.

Her departure marks the end of a chapter for the popular officer, who has earned many residents’ appreciation through her commitment to community safety and collaboration with local crime prevention structures.

In a heartfelt farewell message to Nigel SAPS members, the CPF, stakeholders and residents, Droskie thanked them for the support and cooperation she received during her time in the town.

She thanked police officers for their dedication, sacrifices and commitment to serving the public, encouraging them to continue treating people with dignity, protecting vulnerable members of society and upholding the integrity of the SAPS uniform.

Droskie also paid tribute to the CPF, security companies, businesses and community organisations for the time and resources they contributed towards crime prevention initiatives.

She highlighted the importance of partnerships between the police and the community, noting that fighting crime requires collective effort and a willingness to work together.

Addressing Nigel residents, she acknowledged that although she could not resolve every problem, she had always tried her best to serve the community and listen to its concerns.

She urged the community to remain united, continue supporting crime prevention initiatives, and avoid letting differences undermine the progress made.

Her departure ends her three-year tenure, while Dwaba assumes responsibility for leading Nigel Police Station in an acting capacity until a permanent appointment is made.
