Cambridge reserves crush AD Astra 7-0 in MAFA League win

Cambridge FC Reserves ended the first round of the MAFA League in dominant fashion with a 7-0 demolition of AD Astra

Cambridge FC Reserves wrapped up the first round of the MAFA League in great fashion, thrashing AD Astra 7-0 on June 1 at MacKenzieville Stadium in Alra Park.

The team delivered a commanding performance, asserting its dominance from the first whistle to the last.

With three points on offer, the Cambridge Reserves knew a win would place them inside the chasing pack for league honours.

The team had been inconsistent in recent weeks, but a few big wins had the boys working toward one common goal, despite challenges faced by the first team in the Hollywood Bets League.

The game started like a house on fire as the Bridges players showed clear intent to win from the opening minutes.
The Bridges opened the scoring with good combination play that left the Astra players in sixes and sevens that resulted in their first goal.

Their second goal came shortly thereafter, following a mistake in the Astra defence that allowed Bridges to take full advantage and add to the scoreline.

It was a physical match with goals galore, and they scored their third goal within 20 minutes.

In the last part of the first half, two more goals sailed into AD Astra’s net.

By halftime, the score was already 5-0.

The second half started slowly, as the Bridges team was relaxed and complacent with their lead.

Astra did not sit back and created a few chances of their own, but Cambridge managed to deal with their attacks.
As the match continued, Cambridge’s coaching staff gave fringe players a run, and the team created more opportunities.

Bridges scored two more goals, one of which was remarkably netted by the goalkeeper.

The goal scorers were Mihlali Ntsaluba (1), Bonginkosi Nzunza (1), Aviwe Arosi (1), Banele Mashinini (2), Carlos Moyo (1) and Sanele Ndlovu (1).
