Exciting matches and strong performances at Nigel Rugby Club Rugby Day

Rugby fans were treated to a full day of thrilling action at John Vorster Stadium, as Nigel Rugby Club hosted teams from across the region in a series of competitive fixtures.

Nigel Rugby Club hosted an exciting day of rugby at the John Vorster Stadium on March 7, where several teams from across the region competed in a full schedule of matches that kept supporters entertained from morning until evening.

The rugby day opened with a U21 clash between Benoni and Heidelberg 2. Benoni started the day strongly, delivering a dominant performance to secure a convincing 46–7 victory over Heidelberg.

In the following match, a U20 clash, Nigel faced Benoni.

Despite their efforts, Nigel struggled to break through Benoni’s defence and the visitors claimed a comprehensive 45–0 win.

Meyerton 2 then took on Benoni Geel in a competitive encounter. Meyerton maintained control throughout the match and walked away with a 14–7 victory.

Nigel 2 produced one of the standout performances of the day against Sasolburg 2.

The home side played with confidence and discipline, securing an impressive 24–7 win to the delight of the local supporters.

In another closely contested fixture, Meyerton 1 faced Benoni Rooi. Both teams battled fiercely, but Meyerton ultimately won 26–17.

The next game saw Benoni Swart take on Sasolburg 1. Sasolburg proved too strong on the day, claiming a 31–12 victory after a solid performance.

Heidelberg 1 then faced Oos Rand Polisie 1 in one of the afternoon matches.

Heidelberg showed determination and skill to secure a convincing 22–5 win.

The final match of the day saw Nigel 1 take on Witbank 1 in a hard-fought encounter. Both teams gave their all, and the match ended in a 12–12 draw, bringing the day’s rugby action to a dramatic and fitting close.
