Nigel Rugby Club made a strong statement in the opening round of the President Cup on March 28, securing decisive victories against Vanderbijlpark across both senior teams.

The Nigel second team dominated their match, winning 52-6.

Tries were scored by Jopa Mulomba (4), Kevin Mukandila (2), Heinrico Scott (1) and Mswa Latha (1).

Nigel’s first team also impressed with a 48-3 triumph over Vanderbijlpark’s first side.

Try scorers included Lwazi Jamani (1), Zavian Klaasen (2), Louis de Bruyn (1), Abraham Lux (1), Ashley Monoyane (1), Lama Hlatswayo (1) and Kevin Mukandila (1).

Nigel will face Benoni Northerns Rugby Club at their home ground on April 11 in round two of the President Cup.
