Tobie Alberts’ young wrestlers shine with impressive medal haul
Young athletes return with impressive medal haul following stellar performances across multiple divisions.
Tobie Alberts’ young wrestlers produced an impressive display at a wrestling tournament on September 12, with the club’s athletes returning with a strong medal haul across several divisions.
Wessel Oosthuizen was among the standout performers, claiming three gold medals. Oosthuizen dominated the Greco-Roman division before adding further gold in the Boys U11 freestyle and Presidents categories. Joe Conradie also enjoyed a successful outing, securing two gold medals in the Boys U11 and Presidents divisions.

The club’s younger wrestlers also made their presence felt. Okuhle Moloi claimed gold in the Boys U9 freestyle division, while Evah de Beer took gold in the Girls U11 single-weight category.
Amieke Nortje continued the club’s strong showing by winning two gold medals in the Girls U8 single-weight and Presidents divisions.
Aleana Harding added a silver medal after finishing second in the Girls U11 category. Despite a determined effort, Odin du Toit narrowly missed out on a podium finish after battling hard throughout his competition.

The club was also without another promising U8 competitor, Lindi-Nerina Oosthuizen, who missed the tournament while representing Gauteng at the provincial cross-country championships in Midrand.
The strong results underline the depth of talent emerging from Tobie Alberts, with the young wrestlers demonstrating skill, determination and competitive spirit across the various divisions.
