Members of South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu) took to the streets of Ermelo the fight against their members being laid off as a result of new contractors reducing the number of employees.

Budget constraints to the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison resulted to new security contractors reducing the number of staff compliment in most posts, a move that has angered Satawu and its members.

Satawu handed over their memorandum at the Batho Pele building in Ermelo which was received by legal advisor Bongani Nkabinde on behalf of Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe.
