Mayor presents R66m budget plan

Municipality set aside R66m for service delivery

Msukaligwa Executve Mayor, Cllr Sipho Bongwe presented a R66 million budget plan for service delivery for the financial year 2015/2016 during a council meeting yesterday at the mayors chambers in Ermelo.

R48m will be spent on water and sanitation, R12m for the upgrading of electrical infrastructure and R6m will be spent on road maintenance and addressing potholes problems.

Bongwe did however concede that this amount is not sufficient but a step to the right direction.

Opposition party Democratic Alliance (DA) welcomed the budget presentation with reservations saying that the mayor’s budget presentation is a repeat of the same story three years ago.

DA Cllr Mr H.F. Swaart cautioned the mayor that the only way for the budget to work is if there are proper and firm debt and credit control policies in place.
