The Executive Mayor of Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM), Mr M Chirwa, recently awarded top achievers at the annual Mayoral Excellence Awards held at the mayor’s parlor.
The celebrations took place with people of GSDM dressed to the nines with mayors of all seven municipalities in attendance.
Miss Mpumalanga, Geraldine Williams, a resident of Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Local Municipality, made an appearance, offering words of support and encouragement.
The awards give the Mayor an opportunity to recognise the important contributions being made in various sectors across the district, with the help of its social and community partners.
The awards are made of two parts, one being that of the awards presented to district municipality employees who had made outstanding achievements in the workplace, and the other, made to deserving community members for outstanding achievements as nominated by members of the public.
Employees of the municipality received awards for their hard work with long-serving individuals rewarded for their commitment to the municipality.
Organisations and groups around GSDM received awards for their contributions to the betterment of the district and their communities as a whole.
