Msukaligwa Whip of Council provides winter warmth for the elderly

The elderly and young women of Msukaligwa were honoured presented with blankets

Whip of Council in Msukaligwa Municipality, Ms P.E. Mashiane, and Chief Whips of the Gert Sibande District Municipality donated blankets and hosted a luncheon for the young and elderly at the Ella de Bruin Hall in the Civic Centre on Monday.

This comes as the winter season is in full swing with the blankets assisting against the cold.

The elderly and young women of Msukaligwa were honoured after the recent spate of killings and attacks on the elderly, people with disabilities, women and children.

A birthday song was sung and cake presented to Martha Mthethwa and Nelly Mabuza who turned 99 and 97 respectively.

“We must take care of our elderly, as they have paved a way for us. They are wise and fought for our freedom,” said Ms Mashiane.

Executive Mayor of Msukaligwa, Mr M.S. Nkosi, was in attendance, wishing the elderly well and a long life.
