Mayflower Police arrested a 31-year- old male on Saturday at Mayflower Gate for murder and attempted murder of two minors.
According to information received by the police, the incident occurred after an argument between the suspect and the mother of the two children, aged four and five years.
The suspect took the children to a separate room where he beat them with a hammer.
On arrival, the police found the two minors unconscious, lying in a pool of blood with the hammer next to them.
They sustained serious head injuries and one died in hospital. The suspect appeared in Mayflower Periodical Court on Monday with his case being postponed to 7 August. He remains in custody.
