Five suspects entered the Standerton Café and Take Away on 23 October and attempted a robbery, two of them were armed with guns.
They kept the mother, Ms Chun Zhu Yan, busy by ordering food and then overpowered her behind the counter.
The father, Mr Jun Hau Chen, was in front of the shop and one of the suspects forced him to the back of the shop.
One suspect was arrested, the other four fled the scene in a silver Polo.
All are believed to be from Vereeniging.
