Man arrested for impersonating a police officer

The suspect, who was found in possession of a fraudulent representation of the police's appointment certificate, is reported to have conned some people of their hard-earned money.

Ermelo police arrested a 27-year-old man on Saturday, 20 January, after receiving information that he was pretending to be a police official.

He allegedly promised to help one complainant acquire a liquor trading licence in not tie, at a fee.

The suspect appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 January on charges of fraud and impersonating a police official.

His case has been postponed and he is remanded in custody.
