Ermelo police opens murder docket after murder in Enyibe

A second shot was heard and upon investigation by police, the body was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Ermelo police have opened an inquest and are investigating a case of attempted murder after an incident on Sunday, 20 January at a residence in Enyibe (New Ermelo) were a man allegedly shot his wife and was found dead.

According to police, the couple had an argument after the 39-year-old woman returned from a visit at a neighbour’s house at about 8pm.

During the fight, the 42-year-old husband allegedly slapped the woman twice in her face.

According to the victim, she went into the bathroom to make a telephone call and when she came out, her husband allegedly took his firearm and shot her in the right hip.

Her children and neighbour, who heard the gunshot called the police for help.

A second shot was heard and upon investigation by police, the body was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

No foul play is suspected as regards to the husband’s death.
