Men rob a couple at Middelplaat farm

Ermelo police are investigating a case of house robbery after two men robbed a couple at a farm in Middelplaat on the Hendrina Road.

Ermelo police are investigating a case of house robbery after two men robbed a couple on Saturday, 7 April, at a farm in Middelplaat on the Hendrina Road.

“The complainant spoke to a man, thinking he was asking for help, when another came out of the shadows, holding a gun,” police spokesman, Const Dumi Sibeko, said.

Const Sibeko also said the suspects tied up the man and his wife and held them at gunpoint, demanding money.

The suspects fled with R5 000 in cash and the couple’s vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf.

All the items total to a value of R33 700.

The abandoned vehicle was later found in Bethal, but the suspects remain at large.
