Man steals car on the N2 after owner gave him a lift

Ermelo Police are investigating a hijacking.

Ermelo Police are investigating a hijacking after a 49-year-old man was hijacked when he was travelling to Swaziland via Ermelo.

According to the police spokesman, Capt Carla Prinsloo, the victim gave a man who introduced himself as Mr Dlamini, a lift.

“On the N2 in the Overvaal area, Mr Dlamini asked to stop and relieve himself. During this time he asked the owner of the vehicle to check something in the veld,” Capt Carla Prinsloo said.

When the owner got out of his vehicle, the suspect pointed a firearm at him, took the vehicle and left the owner in the veld.

The police said he drove in the direction of Ermelo.

Police appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

The vehicle is a VW Polo with Swaziland registration number PSD 369 CM.
