Ermelo Police advised the public to be vigilant because there has been an increase in house burglaries recently.
According to the spokesman, Capt Carla Prinsloo, Wesselton and Ermelo East are the most affected areas.
“We have noticed that in most cases, the thieves gain entry to houses via windows or by cutting through the burglar bars,” said Capt Prinsloo.
She added that electronics such as televisions and cell phones are the most popular items to be stolen and urged the public to keep record of the serial numbers when they buy these items in order for the police to trace the owners if they find the stolen items.
