Woman’s body found in shallow grave in Badplaas, one arrested in Badplaas

The family then filed a missing person's report and a police probe led to the boyfriend, aged 28, who committed suicide soon thereafter.

The body of a 28-year-old woman, who went missing on 29 December, was recently found buried in a shallow grave on a farm in Badplaas.

The victim, Ms Zanele Zwane from Nhlazatshe, was last seen after she reported to her family that she was going to visit her estranged boyfriend at Badplaas and was never seen nor heard from again.

According to reports, when the boyfriend was asked if she had arrived, he said that she never did.

The family then filed a missing person’s report and a police probe led to the boyfriend, aged 28, who committed suicide soon thereafter.

The investigation led to the boyfriend’s friend, whom it was suggested may have had a hand in her murder.

The suspect eventually pointed out the shallow grave where the body was indeed found, hence his arrest on Friday, 1 February.

The suspect appeared in the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 4 February.

He is facing a charge of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
