Police investigates two cases of rape in Ermelo

The complainant managed to get away and seek help. The man was later arrested by members of the community and handed over to the police.

Two cases of rape were reported to the Ermelo Police recently.

The first incident occurred at about 7pm on Saturday, 2 February.

According to the complainant, she was picked up by her boyfriend at her home and taken to his residence in Thusi Village.

The boyfriend allegedly assaulted and raped her at his residence and locked her in the room and left the premises.

“The complainant managed to escape and report the case to the police,” Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman for Ermelo Police said.

The second incident happened on Saturday, 2 February at 2pm in Extension 6 in Wesselton.

An 18-year-old complainant slept when she became aware of someone touching her.

The suspect threatened to kill her if she called for help.

“He undressed and raped her, after which he fell asleep,” Capt Prinsloo said. The complainant managed to get away and seek help.

The man was later arrested by members of the community and handed over to the police.
