Overflowing manhole in President Fouché Street drains residents’ patience

A foul odour is emanating from the street.

ERMELO – After only having been repaired recently, the manhole in President Fouché Street has erupted again, causing sewage to accumulate outside nearby residences.

A foul odour is emanating from the streets where this manhole in President Fouché Street has again began overflowing.

In the mornings and evenings, the manhole leaks, but it stops around midday, Ms Anesca Moodley, a resident who has had to endure the stench, previously told Highvelder.

A steady stream of sewage runs uninterrupted down President Fouché Street.

Since the area is so damp, mosquitoes are drawn to it.

“It does not seem as though there is a permanent solution to fix the manhole, and right now, it feels like we live near a swamp,” Ms Moodley said.

She said the worst was not getting direct feedback from the municipality regarding this situation.
