Msukaligwa Business & Community Forum shines the spotlight on Pet Dam

ERMELO – Msukaligwa Business & Community Forum (MB&CF) held a meeting on February 3 at the Ermelo Inn, on the rehabilitation of not only the Pet Dam but wastewater treatment systems.

Numerous business owners, residents, the principals of both Ligbron Academy for Technology and EHS, and Cllr Zenzele Ernest Zulu, the MMC of technical services, and

Cllr Sphiwe Ernest Ngovene of Msukaligwa Local Municipality attended the meeting.

Mr Jurgens van Loggerenberg and Mr Senzo Yeni of Water Technovations stated during the meeting that with the assistance of the municipality and the community, the current state of the Pet Dam could be turned around.

They added that one of the first steps towards rehabilitating the dam was to resolve all pollution, including sewage spills and weekend parties leading to rubbish thrown into it.

Some of the members attending the meeting raised the issue of some municipal by-laws that are not in place to prevent gatherings at the dam and suggested that the fence around the dam should be fixed and monitored by a security company.
