VIDEO – Msukaligwa firefighters extinguish burning 11kV transformer in Ermelo

He added that the fire was caused by illegal connections in the area.

ERMELO – Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services were dispatched to the 100KVA/11Kv transformer, near the municipal offices in Wesselton on March 15, at about 16:30.

According to Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman for the municipality, the transformer was installed on March 14.

He added that the fire was caused by illegal connections in the area.

The only affected area is the street next to the transformer, however, the technicians had to switch off most parts of Wesselton in order to work on the network.

Mr Zwane said the electricity has been restored except for Thembisa and Phumula.

“The electricity in Thembisa and Phumula will be restored at about 21:00,” Mr Zwane concluded.
