Road extension near Boxer Centre in Wesselton underway

"The project will help ease traffic congestion," Mr Mandla Zwane said.

WESSELTON – Msukaligwa Municipality has begun with the construction of Wesselton’s Ext 3 road extension on March 29.

According to the municipality’s spokesman, Mr Mandla Zwane, the aim of the project is to improve road infrastructure in the area and ensure the congestion of traffic flow is eased.

“The scope of work entails the upgrade of OR Tambo Street by constructing of two additional lanes from the N11 robots up until about 200m after the intersection of Albert Luthuli Road as well as to construct a traffic circle at the intersection of OR Tambo Street and Mandela Drive,” Mr Zwane said.

The project funded through the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) which is estimated to cost R7.7 million, is due to be completed on August 22.

“During the construction period road-users, especially motorist, are advised to be cautious of construction activities in these areas and to be patient.”
