Msukaligwa Municipality recives MV cable donation worth of R1.4m from Mooiplaats Colliery

According to MLM spokesman Mr Mandla Zwame the cable delivery was the third bout of cable delivery which is aimed at stabilising electrical infrastructure within the municipality.

ERMELO – Msukaligwa Local Municipality (MLM) received a procurement of electrical cables for the replacement 1km of cable to an estimated value of R1.4m from Mooiplaats Colliery on May 10.

According to MLM spokesman Mr Mandla Zwame the cable delivery was the third bout of cable delivery which is aimed at stabilising electrical infrastructure within the municipality.

“The projects were supplied through the agreed social and labour plan which covered the period from 2018 to 2022. The total amount spent by the mine on these projects amount to R2m,” Mr Zwane said.

He added that MLM covers a vast area in which the infrastructure is aged and vulnerable.

“The assistance from Mooiplaats Colliery has brought about stabilisation to the areas that have been attended to. Furthermore, the assistance is highly appreciated and the municipality certainly hopes that there will be more projects of this nature to help improve and ascertain its consumers of a more stable and reliable power supply.”

Mr Zwane urged residents to protect the cables from theft.
