Man critical after truck crashes into river outside Ermelo

“Medics assessed the man and found that he was in a critical condition, having sustained numerous injuries,” Mr Meiring said.

ERMELO – A man, believed to be in his 40s, was left critically injured after his truck had rolled into a river next to the N11.

The accident happened approximately 17km outside Ermelo.

ER24 and the provincial EMS arrived at 10:20 on the scene and found the wrecked truck and trailer on the side of the road.

According to Mr Russel Meiring, the ER24 spokesman, the driver was lying in the shallow water.

“Medics assessed the man and found that he was in a critical condition, having sustained numerous injuries,” Mr Meiring said.

The man was treated and provided with advanced life support before being transported to Ermelo Provincial Hospital for urgent care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
