UPDATE: Police confirm body found in Ermelo’s illegal mining shaft is that of missing person
A source claims that when the police arrived, the missing person and other Zama Zamas retreated deeper into the mine.

The body found in the illegal mining shaft was confirmed to be that of the person who was reported missing, according to confirmation given to police.
The Ermelo police spokesman, Captain Carla Prinsloo, stated only one body was located in the mine shaft.

ERMELO – In a shaft of an illegal mine where the Zama Zamas was recently apprehended, a man’s body was discovered.
The discovery comes after one of the Zama Zamas’ family members reported him missing.
According to information obtained, he vanished on the day of the SAPS operation at the mine.

The person who was reported missing is not the one whose body was found, though.
More bodies are anticipated, according to the police.
The SAPS Mpumalanga Search and Rescue team is en route to the mine to do an additional search.
