Gert Sibande District Municipality in mourning: Second councillor dies
The GSDM extended its condolences to both families, as well as to their colleagues and communities, during this difficult time.
The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) is reeling from the shock after the passing of Victor Dudley (39), a full-time councillor representing the Democratic Alliance (DA) on the GSDM council.
His passing comes just days after the death of Jabulile Ndebele, a PR councillor from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), leaving the municipality and the community in deep grief.
Dudley, who had served on the GSDM Council since November 2021, was an active participant in several key committees, including the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) and the Infrastructure Committee.

Known for his dedication and commitment to public service, Dudley’s untimely death has left a void in the district’s political landscape.
GSDM speaker, Busisiwe Sekhonde, expressed the district municipality’s sorrow: “This morning, we were shocked and heartbroken to learn of his passing. His sudden departure leaves a gap not only in the political landscape of our district but also in the hearts of those who had the privilege of working alongside him,” Sekhonde said.
The GSDM extended its condolences to both families, as well as to their colleagues and communities, during this difficult time.
