Social Development hosts crime prevention awareness day

The Department of Social Development educates Cassim Park youth on crime, bullying, and teenage pregnancy at awareness event.

ERMELO – The Department of Social Development (DSD), in close collaboration with various community stakeholders, recently hosted a vital crime prevention awareness day in Cassim Park.

The event aimed to empower the youth with crucial information, not only on crime prevention but also on pressing social challenges such as bullying and teenage pregnancy.

“It is important for us to continuously raise awareness regarding bullying and teenage pregnancy,” Sibusiso Mnisi-Masina of the DSD said.

He added that children should keep their focus on their school work and warned residents that sleeping with a minor is a crime and they can be charged with statutory rape.
