Wyebank family of ten left homeless after fire

Fire victims needs assistance.

TEN members of a Wyebank family were left homeless when their three-bedroom house burnt down.

The Murugan family lost everything to a fire. It is still not clear what started it.

Owner of the house, Mummygirl, said she was at work when the fire started.

“I got a phone call to rush home. My daughter was sleeping at the time and my daughter-in-law was outside with her two children aged one and four.

“My daughter was woken by the smoke and rushed outside for help.

“One of the neighbours came to assist, and the fire brigade, but it was too late as the fire destroyed everything.

“We were left with only the clothes that we were wearing,” said Murugan.

The family is currently residing with Mummygirl’s daughter, Daphne.

Daphne said it was difficult as she also has a three-bedroom house where she lives with her husband and three children. “Now there are 15 of us, we are really squashed,” said Daphne.

Murugan said they had recently renovated the house for their son’s wedding last month.

“We even bought new furniture specially for the wedding day.

Morgan Pillay of Shadday Plumbing has assisted the family in their hardship by rebuilding the house. If anyone would like to assist this family, contact Daphne on 084 602 7699.
