Teen mums form netball team
An appeal is being made for anyone who can donate netball hoops.
TEENAGE mothers attending the 1000 Hills Helpers baby Wellness Clinic and then waiting around for a meal from the soup kitchen have found a way of filling in the time by playing netball.
The teenagers approached Dawn Leppan, founder of 1000 Hills Helpers, with their novel solution to while away the time. Dawn managed to borrow hoops from a local school and the fun began.
“It is thoroughly enjoyed by the local community who come to watch and it keeps them busy and motivated. Their enthusiasm is absolutely marvellous,” said Dawn.
The teams are eagerly awaiting their first match against teams from Kwa Thintwa School for the Deaf.
“We would love it if somebody could sponsor us hoops. We are also looking for teenage and baby clothing for our safe house, ” said Dawn.
Anyone who can help, can contact Dawn on 084 6252 771 or 031 783 4013.
