Head on collision leaves 17 injured

A head on collision in New Germany left two people critically injured.

A SERIOUS accident involving a taxi and a light motor vehicle left two people in serious condition and 15 people with minor injuries on Friday 18 October at approximately 6.45am on the intersection of Otto Volek Road and Nipper Road, New Germany.

According to Derrick Banks of ER24, paramedics arrived on the scene and found the two vehicles’ occupants lying on a nearby verge. Two passengers from the taxi had sustained serious injuries. One passenger had sustained traumatic injuries to his arm. The remaining thirteen passengers had sustained minor cuts and abrasions and were stabilised on scene. They were all transported to R K Khans Hospital for further medical care.

According to Lt Bongumusa Manqele, Pinetown SAPS communications officer, the accident was a head on collision and a case of Reckless and Negligent driving was opened at the station.
