A THREE–year-old boy drowned in a pool on Sunday at his home in Pinetown.
According to Chris Botha, Coastal Media Liaison, Netcare Limited, said reports indicate that the child was found floating in the pool by family at around 6pm and neighbours started resuscitation and called for assistance.
“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and took over with advanced life support resuscitation and worked for an hour and fifteen minutes to try and save the little boy.
“Tragically, despite all their efforts, the child was declared dead on scene,” said Botha.
Cst Lungile Mbatha, Pinetown SAPS communications officer, said it is believed the child slipped and fell in to the swimming pool when he was playing with his bike in the yard.
“The police were called by the parents and when they got there paramedics were already on the scene and the child was declared dead.”
An inquest was opened at Pinetown Police Station.
