Paramedics rescue trapped tractor driver

ER24 paramedics rushed to an accident scene on the R103 yesterday afternoon to rescue a trapped tractor driver.

PARAMEDICS rescued a tractor driver who was trapped underneath his vehicle near Cato Ridge on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Russel Meiring, media spokesman for ER24,  paramedics closed the R103 for an hour while they, along with provincial rescue personnel, attended to the trapped driver.

“Emergency workers assessed the man beneath the tractor and found that he was seriously injured on his abdomen and legs. The man was stabilised while the tractor was being lifted off his body,” said Meiring.

The driver was placed on a spine board before being transported to a nearby hospital. “Witnesses on scene later said that the tractor had apparently been driving at a high speed down the road before turning too sharply, causing the tractor to overturn,” said Meiring.

The local SAPS are currently investigating the accident.
