Hijackers flip out in Pinetown
Two men were arrested after they flipped the car they had stolen.

A pair of hijackers were arrested on Tuesday afternoon after crashing the vehicle they had stolen foma 60-year-old man outside the Pinetown Post Office.
Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele said it is alleged that the victim was in his car, a Toyota Double Cab at the Pinetown Post Office parking lot waiting for his wife who was inside the Post Office when he was approached by a man who was armed with a gun.
“It is alleged that the hijacker broke the window with the gun and shot the victim on his left shoulder.
“They then removed the victim from his car and drove off.,” he said.
It is reported that eyewitnesses chased after the hijackers and the police car that was in the vicinity joined the chase.
“It is alleged that the hijackers lost control of the car and overturned in Henwood Road in New Germany.
“A 7.65mm gun believed to be used during the shooting was recovered. The serial number of the gun was filed off and three rounds of ammunition and an empty cartridge were found on the men. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment,” said Manqele.
The firearm will be sent for ballistic tests to determine whether it was used in the commission of other crimes around the country. The arrested men will be charged for carjacking and are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.
