Pedestrian killed in collision

A PEDESTRIAN was critically injured on Dinkleman Road in New Germany on Saturday evening.

The man, believed to be in his early thirties, had severe injuries on his head and chest from a collision. According to Luyanda Majija, spokesman for ER24, paramedics treated the man and administered rescue breathing techniques to rectify his compromised airway.

“En route to Albert Luthuli Hospital, the man’s vital organs shut down and he was resuscitated inside the ambulance,” said Majija.

She noted that when the ambulance arrived at the hospital, resuscitation procedures continued but the man died due to the severity of his injuries.

The incident is being investigated by the local SAPS.
