Shongweni N3 closed after fatal truck crash
Shongweni N3 closes for recovery operation.
ONE man died and two others were injured in a truck accident on the N3, Durban bound, near Shongweni on Monday morning.
According to Chris Botha, spokesman for Netcare 911, the accident happened at about 6am and paramedics triaged the injured. He noted that one of the commuters was in a critical condition and another was seriously injured.
The first accident was on the Durban bound lane, which severely obstructed the traffic. Botha noted that the cause of the accident is unknown and the SAPS are investigating.
Once the two people were treated at the scene they were taken to a specialist facility in Durban. “Paramedics and the emergency services personnel were then called to another accident on the N3, West bound.
There have also been reports that Shonweni Road would be closed from 10am on Monday for recovery purposes. Motorists are urged to find alternate routes.
