Man critical after N3 crash
The bakkie is believed to have overturned and smashed into two other vehicles along the highway.
A MAN is fighting for his life after the bakkie he was driving overturned on the N3 in Pinetown this morning.
According to Russel Meiring, media spokesman for ER24, paramedics found the driver had been ejected approximately 20 meters from his vehicle and was in a critical condition.
Advanced life support was performed on the man, who is in his 20s, before he was transported by ambulance to Mediclinic Newcastle.
“After the bakkie rolled, it collided with two other vehicles. One of the drivers had minor injuries. He was treated for his injuries and transported to hospital,” said Meiring.
The exact cause of the accident is not yet known and the SAPS are investigating.
Meiring noted that the right-hand lane on both sides of the highway had to be closed for an hour due to the accident.
