Botha’s Hill – Alleged robbers arrested

Three men have confessed to several house robberies in Botha's Hill.

AUTHORITIES believe that they have made a breakthrough in the recent crime spree that has been tormenting residents in Botha’s Hill.

According to Steven King, of the Waterfall Crime Watch and SecureLink, the Hillcrest Crime Prevention Unit stopped and questioned three men in Assagay at 3am yesterday.

At this stage it is unclear why the CPU chose to focus on these men. It is alleged that during the questioning, the men agreed to show the authorities where they were hiding some stolen property.

Heinrich Schwarz, a private investigator that has been assisting the police, along with two members of the Shongweni K9 Unit and four Hillcrest police officers accompanied the men to a house where DVD players, cell phones, power tools, speakers and other items believed to be stolen were recovered.

The men also took authorities to a second house where they found a VW Polo, that has allegedly been stolen in Berea on Wednesday, an engine and other car parts.

Lt France Mkhize, the Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, confirmed that the three men were arrested and have confessed to committing several house robberies in Botha’s Hill.

Investigations are underway and authorities hope to link the men to more cases.
