Fire safety tips from SACAN

Fires that raged throughout the Waterfall area were deliberately set according to a witness.

The fire broke out at about 3am in the grass in Brackenhill Road, Waterfall and  soon spread rapidly through the Brackenhill Valley area, Molweni and jumped across to Horseshoe Crescent.

According to Steven King from SA Community Crime Watch, fire engines from Hammarsdale and Pinetown had to be dispatched to help the Gillitts fire station as they were already dealing with the fires that were occurring in the M7 area.

The fires took about 10 to 12 hours to extinguish.
