Kloof drug bust accused denied bail
A crown of anti-drug protesters cheered outside court where Kloof drug bust accused were denied bail.

THE four men who were arrested during the Kloof drug bust in Everton Road, on Tuesday, 24 June were denied bail at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today.
Wing Lik Wong (58), Kin Hung Yip (56) and Warren Daniels (24) have been charged for manufacturing drugs, namely methaqualone, a base ingredient of mandrax. Today was their fifth court appearance.
The owner of the house, Junaid Rasool was also charged. All four men have remained in custody.
The magistrate, Wendy Robinson, based her decision on the community’s response to the case.
She said that this was a very sensitive issue, judging by the crowds that have gathered outside the court since the men first appeared.
The department of social welfare, stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking as well as members of the community protested outside the court since early this morning.
Sdudla Ndlovu, of the Impumelelo Yobumbano (a drug rehabilitation centre in Wyebank), who has been following the case said she is delighted with the magistrate’s decision.
“Drugs have ruined many lives and many young people’s futures have been destroyed by drug addiction,” she said.
The crowd cheered triumphantly as they heard the outcome of the bail hearing.
The four men are expected to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 September.
