Teacher retires after 33 years of service
Mrs Radha Devi Annandakrisnan, a Grade 7 English and arts teacher at Wyebank Primary School, retired after 33 years of service to the education industry.
A GRADE 7 teacher, Radha Devi Annandakrisnan, from Wyebank Primary School, has decided to trade in her chalkboard for family time.
The English and arts teacher has retired after 33 years of service to the education sector.
Annandakrisnan first started her teaching career at Everest Primary School in Shallcross in 1981. Thereafter she taught at eight other schools before settling down at Wyebank Primary School in 1992. She was one of the first teachers at the school teaching arts to Grade 4 to Grade 7 pupils and English to various Grades.
She chose a teaching career following her love for children. “Children have always been my soft spot and have also enjoyed the warmth and friendliness of my colleagues here at Wyebank Primary School,” said Annandakrisnan.
She said as much as she wants to rest during her retirement, she’s going to miss the routine of being a teacher getting up for school every morning.
“It’s going to be a challenge for me at home but it’s just a matter of time before I get used to having this much time to myself and I’m looking forward to that,” said Annandakrisnan.
Her message to the pupils and staff is to carry on doing things the school has always done, to build the school from strength to strength, carry on meeting and overcoming the challenges and to be the best you can be.
