KJP pupils vote for kennel adoption

More than 390 pupils took part in a mock voting exercise, with the majority choosing a kennel adoption.

THROUGH the power of the vote, the pupils from Kloof Primary School generously sponsored a kennel at the Kloof and Highway SPCA recently.

The pupils at the school were being taught about voting and its importance and each child took to the ‘polls’ to cast their vote. The mock voting session allowed the pupils to choose between three projects; the purchasing of a sundial for the school, a veggie garden or to adopt a kennel at the local SPCA. More than 390 pupils cast their vote and the vast majority chose to adopt a kennel.

“Currently we have 44 kennels, the puppy run and the cat and kitten enclosures. The income generated from the sponsorship is money we can count on for the up-keep of the kennels, enrichment and day-to-day care of the animals in our care,” said Thando Ndlovu, the education and marketing officer at the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

The cost to sponsor a kennel or a cat enclosure is R100 per month and the sponsor will be acknowledged with a plaque in the kennel, along with a personal message from the donor.

“We value every member of our community that has sponsored a kennel and/or cat enclosure as they are making a direct impact on the well-being of the animals. We would like to encourage more members of our community to sponsor a kennel and or/cat enclosure,” said Thando.

If you would like to sponsor a kennel or cat enclosure, contact Thando Ndlovu on 031 764 1212 or email marketing1@kloofspca.co.za.
