Knit for a good cause

Fingerless mittens needed to assist the seafarer's mission.

PINETOWN Methodist Church Women’s Auxiliary is pleading with anyone who can assist with fingerless mittens to be donated to the seafarer’s mission.

This plea results from a talk that was given by Reverend Boet van Schalkwyk of Seafarer’s Mission, on the hardships seamen experienced when their ships were hijacked by pirates.

Elaine de Jager, secretary of the PMCWA said the mission needs 3000 pairs by Christmas.

“I have spoken to a few organisations, asking for assistance.

“We have collected over 200 so far. Donations came from Pinetown Methodist Church, Cowies Hill Lions Club, Yellowwood Park Evening Institute, Durban South Lions, Stainbank Women’s Institute and Pinehaven Lodge.”

Anyone who would like to get involved can contact Elaine on 083 763 9971.
