Berndts ring in 50 years of marriage

Leslie and Sylvia Berndt look back on 50 happy years of marriage as they celebrate their golden anniversary.

WATERFALL’S Leslie and Unice Berndt celebrate a golden milestone at the end of this week as the couple celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple met and started dating in 1961 after they met at church in the Eastern Cape. Leslie and Unice, who both come from a German farming stock, married in Stutterheim in the Baptist Church on 10 October 1964.

Leslie and Unice welcomed the birth of their first child, Steven, in 1966, followed by Darryl in 1968 and Kevin Berndt in 1977.

They are the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren, two grandsons and five granddaughters.

The couple said the secret to their long, happy marriage is a mutual love for the Lord. They met through the church and have always been involved in different aspects of the church family.

They will be having a get together and lunch with close friends and family at Chantecler Hotel on this weekend.
