Silent bid raises funds for SARDA Durban

Winner thrilled that her silent bid won.

Kate Nisbet was over the moon to hear that her bid was the winning bid in the South African Riding for Disabled Durban branch silent bid painting auction.

Botha’s Hill based artist and SARDA Durban volunteer, Charmaine Eastment, donated one of her paintings to SARDA Durban to use to raise funds. It was decided to display the painting at various events throughout the year inviting silent bids.

Nisbet spotted the beautiful landscape painting on display at the SARDA Durban stall at the Shongweni Farmers’ Market earlier in the year. Being an admirer of the artist’s work, she placed her bid and kept her fingers crossed.

At the handover, SARDA Durban spokesperson, Claire Phillips, congratulated Nisbet on her winning bid and thanked Eastment for her generous support as a volunteer and by making the artwork donation to boost the funds that are essential to maintain the ‘therapy in motion’ programmeprovided free to schools for children with special needs throughout Durban.

SARDA Durban can be contacted on durban@sarda.co.za regarding sponsorship, donations and volunteering.
