Hearty donation for babies

Sarah Anne Brauns and her daughters made a donation to The Robin Hood Foundation's Love the Babies campaign.

LOCAL mum, Sarah Anne Brauns, and her twin daughters, Emily and Jordyn, have shown their support for The Robin Hood Foundation’s Love the Babies 2016 campaign.

According to Kim Griffith Jones, coordinator, of the foundation, this is a campaign that runs all year round, with the aim to visit new mums in the local government hospitals every six weeks with blessings for their newborns.

“This project relies heavily on the support of our community and donations of pre-loved baby clothes and blankets. The hamper we create is like a baby shower in a bag, and includes 0 to 12-month clothing, towelling nappies, blankets, beanies, booties, toiletries and other items necessary to help these new mums, who have absolutely nothing for their newborns, in their first year of life.

“We are so grateful to our fellow community mums like Sarah for getting involved and showing their support,” said Jones.

Sarah said she has always been exposed to those who have been less fortunate than her and she had always promised herself that she would give where she could and teach her children how to do the same.

“From the time my girls, Emily and Jordyn, could understand the meaning of sharing and giving, we (my husband and I) started teaching them how important it was to share and give to others. Every year, we go into their cupboards and go through their clothes together and the three of us decide what we would like to give to other children. This year my little angels surprised me and even chose some toys. This makes me the proudest mom in the world,” said Sarah.

She said there is nothing more rewarding then the gift of giving. “I was always taught to receive with an open heart and to give with no expectations and you will reap more rewards and fulfilment than money could ever buy. I have also been taught that, no matter how small the item or gesture, it’s the love and the thought behind it that matters.

“Open your hearts and open your cupboards, you will be amazed what can be discovered that will benefit our baby souls,” added Sarah.
